Highland Handmades spindles are crafted to give you the most durable, efficient, and beautiful spindle possible. Every spindle has a galvanized steel hand-turned hook set into a hardwood shaft. The whorls are made from locally and ethically harvested trees from the North Maine Woods. A notch is carved into the whorl to hold your single as you spin. Spindles are finished two different ways: Clear satin polyurethane, which coats the spindle and protects the wood. The finish feels smooth. The other way is to use mineral oil (commonly used to treat butcher blocks and other wood surfaces). Mineral oil sinks into the wood, so it isn't coated. This makes the wood feel soft and brings out the natural beauty of each spindle. It should be noted that because the wood isn't coated, some poorly dyed fibers may stain the spindle.

All Highland Handmades spindles are guaranteed for LIFE. If it ever gets damaged by dropping, normal wear and tear, kids, pets ... anything - ship it back to us and we will repair or replace it forever. We want you to be happy with your HH spindle!
